Ministry of Commerce: China is Short of 2 Million Aged-care Beds

China's Commerce Minister Mr. Zhong Shan said at the Second Session of the 13th National People's Congress that the aged-care service is an obvious supply shortage. According to relevant statistics, there are now more than 8 million elderly people each year, and the number of beds for the elderly is short of more than 2 million per year. In face of the shortage, government should increase investment within the central budget, further relax market access for social capital, support diversified development of non-basic aged-care services and strive to meet multi-level needs.
