Yada Academy Double Ninth Fair Series Activities Held Successfully

Double Ninth Festival celebration brought warmth to Xishan.

Double Ninth Festival was one of Chinese traditional festivals. Double ninth meant longevity that was the blessing of health and longevity to the elderly.

During the Festival, Yada Academy held a series of activities, namely Double Ninth Festival recitation, lecture & talk and celebration, to carry forward Chinese traditional virtues of respecting the elderly, create the atmosphere of filial piety and advocate care to the elderly from all walks of life.

1. Yishan Poem Society to Chant Double Ninth Festival

On the afternoon of October 24th, Poetic Xishan Double Ninth Festival Fair was held at Romantics Pavilion in Town Center of Yangxian Xishan.

The activity began with My Motherland self-written and directed by Yada Academy teachers and students. Elegant dances and joyful steps made the activity full of festival atmosphere.

Students of Hufu Primary School recited the poem of Mr. Su Dongpo Prelude to Water Melody How Rare the Moon So Round and Clear and a Written Proposal of Respecting the Elderly to advocate cares and help to the elderly from all walks of life. Songs, dances and music instrument playing performances attracted crowds of visitors to watch and won lasting applause.

The activity got great support from many residents. Media worker Ms. Ma Xiao and Ms. Sun Xiaohong sang songs and performed poetry recitation that impressed the audience. Calligrapher and painter from Tianjin Mr. Ding Xiaoshan wrote “Longevity and Health” on site, sending her deep wishes to the elderly.

Well-rehearsed performances did not only enrich the residents’ spiritual and cultural life, but also delivered ;love and care to the elderly. While experiencing beautiful autumn in Xishan, travelers experienced a substantial cultural bouquet, profoundly learning the traditional virtue of respecting, loving and treating the elderly with filial respect.

2. Double Ninth Night Talk on Jiangnan

On the evening of October 24th, 6th Yada Academy Lecture & Talk was held at Yada Life Bookstore. The lecture theme was Double Ninth Night Talk: Jiangnan, an attitude to life. More than 200 audience from all walks of life attended the activity.

During the Lecture, well-known cultural scholar Ms. Yu Dan shared her relationship with Yixing and her feeling to Yangxian Xisha. She also explained her understanding on life aesthetics and attitude under the topics of sophisticated life in Jiangnan region, the dwelling of the heart, and landscape and nostalgia in a tea pot.

Ms. Yu Dan won lasting and warm applause for her original viewpoint, extensive quote and witty repartee. Two-hour lecture went too soon. Audience did not want to leave even in the last minute.

Yangxian Xishan was the beloved Jiangnan landscape for many refined scholars. The literary giant Mr. Su Dongpo had such a verse, “Settling in Yangxian for later life, Xishan was the best choice”. Now, besides the landscape, Town Center had been here offering prosperous life inside and natural scenery outside. The lifestyle it advocated was just elegant slow life with nature of Jiangnan.

3. Birthday Party on Double Ninth Festival

On the afternoon of October 25th, Double Ninth Festival Respecting Elderly Activity and Residents Birthday Party with the theme of Love in Xishan and Warmth on Double Ninth Day was held at Yada Academy classroom. Nearly ten elderly people from the Park and tens of residents representatives who were born in October gathered together to celebrate the Festival.

In the activity, the resident representatives and elderly people talked their lives and gave wishes joyfully. The resident representatives presented a birthday cake to the elderly, expressing their best wishes.

For a Double Ninth Festival full of sense of ceremony, staff of Yada Academy prepared chrysanthemum tea and Double Ninth Cake for the elderly. Care from neighborhood and warmth of Xishan Home were delivered when serving tea and enjoying cake. The elderly living in Yangxian Xishan were entertained and joyful. The staff led them to make osmanthus sachets, expressing good wishes to life.

Respecting the elderly is Chinese traditional virtue. Loving and assisting the elderly is the joint responsibility of the society. Yadahas been following the virtue of being a qualified enterprise citizen since its establishment. .
