NBS: Health Industry Divided into 13 Categories

On April 9, the National Bureau of Statistics released the “Statistics Classification of Health Industry (2019)”, which laid a clear boundary for the health industry. It is reported that the Classificatio retains the main contents of the "Health Service Industry Classification (Trial)". At the same time, it combines the development of new formats and new models of health industry, and increases the content of the primary and secondary industries involved in health industry. The document has divided health industry into 13 categories.

The Classification clarifies that health industry refers to products which are directly or closely related to health (goods and services) for the purpose of maintaining, improving and promoting people's wellness based on health care, biotechnology and life sciences. Health industry is defined as medical and health services, health affairs, health environment management & scientific & technological services, health talent education and health knowledge popularization, health promotion services, health protection and financial services, smart health technology services, medicines and other health products circulation services, other health-related services, pharmaceutical manufacturing, medical equipment and equipment manufacturing, health supplies, equipment and smart equipment manufacturing, medical and health institutions, Chinese herbal medicine planting, breeding and collection, etc.
