1st Session of Xishan Leading Reader Program 2023 Spring Held Successfully

On the morning of March 6th, the first session of Xishan Leading Reader Program in 2023 spring was held at Yada Academy Life Bookstore of Yada Yangxian Xishan. The Lecture was with the theme of “Dongpo Pottery Pot and Gongchun Kneading Sand”. Curator of China Purple Sands Museum and Yixing Ceramics Museum Mr. Zhou Xiaodong gave a profound explanation in simple language on the historical development of Yixing ceramics.

With more than 20 years’ research and protection on ceramics culture & theory and intangible cultural heritage, Mr. Zhou Xiaodong has profound understanding on Yixing ceramics history. “Yixing Kiln System – Unique Ceramic Kiln in the Ceramics History of China” theoretical research results proposed by him were listed in Yixing the 13th and 14th Five-Year Plans for Development. He also complied more than 20 volumes in the series of “Yixing Kiln System”, making a positive contribution to the research and development of Yixing ceramics culture.

In the Lecture, around the historical development sequence of Yixing ceramics, Curator Mr. Zhou Xiaodong told the stories back behind Mr. Fan Li making pottery, Yixing celadon, tribute tea in Tang Dynasty, Dongpo pottery pot and Gongchun kneading sand, and the achievement and status of Yixing pottery in the development history of China’s ceramics. The raw material of celadon, the Book of Tea by Mr. Lu Yu, Dongpo purchasing land in Yangxian and Gong Chun making pots in Jinsha Temple had innumerable links with Hufu Town where Yada Yangxian Xishan located in. In his opinion, relying on advantaged ecological resources and deep exploration on Dongpo culture, Yada created a beautiful and desirable home. He sang a poem to hail the City of Ceramics Yixing and ecological Xishan.

During the interaction, co-founder of Yada Academy Mr. Yang Kui and president of the resident club Xin Yin Ceramics Club Ms. Ma Xiao told their understanding on Yixing ceramics respectively and shared their feeling on living at Yangxian Xishan.

Locating in the City of Ceramics Yixing, Yangxian Xishan has integrated ceramics wares in residents’ daily life. This Activity led residents to learn the development process of Yixing ceramics wholly, understand the appeal of ceramic wares from an artistic perspective, and feel the life aesthetics in common wares. As one public welfare cultural activity of Yada Academy, Xishan Leading Reader Program is committed to offer a culture exchange and interaction platform for the Town residents, enrich the Park’s spirit and culture life, and share and establish a colorful and poetic life picture together.
