4th Yada Academy Lecture & Talk Held Successfully

On the morning of August 15th 2020, 4th Yada Academy Lecture & Talk was held at Yada Life Bookstore. Associate Professor of Jiangnan University Dr. Huang Xiaodan gave her speech themed Poetry to Life Aesthetics.

Taking poetry by Mr. Tao Yuanming, Mr. Yanshu, Mr. Su Dongpo and etc. as example, Ms. Huang Xiaodan shared her feelings and resonance during reading ancient poetry with hundreds of audience. In her opinion, we can find description reflecting daily joy, grief, depression and anxiety in ancient poetry. Those verses handed down for centuries guided us like a fatherly figure or an intimate friend through empathy to share joy when being happy, to liberate ourselves when being depressed and to relax our nerves when being frustrated. That is the power of ancient poems.

During interaction with audience, Ms. Huang Xiaodan mentioned the famous words of Mr. Su Dongpo, “Peace of Mind is Township”. In her opinion, the verse may come from Mr. Su’s expectation to settle down after excessive hustle and relegations, or a moment of reminiscence to his hometown. In general, he wanted to find a peaceful place for the soul. According to her, it was related to Mr. Su’s growing environment that he was forthright, sincere, and open and clear. An extreme generous family atmosphere retained his natural instincts that were regarded unreliable by orthodox authority, and brought him up with great abilities that could undertake idealism and reality, success and frustration，as well as joy and pain.
