Yangxian Xishan: Use Architectural Language to Transform Rural Area

Yangxian Project is a comprehensive development project from overall planning to architectural design with a general planning area of 4 million m2. It is 3 kilometers long from east to west and 2 kilometers long from north to south. Complex natural conditions in the site is a super big challenge for design. As the leading architecture, Mr. Chen Binxin regarded the work as a garden experiment under the background of urbanization. The Project should follow the characteristics of the natural land form. Local people could got more work opportunities. Residents from cities nearby could enjoy the rustic life here. Here offers beautiful experience for working and leisure.

The architecture redesigned the Town space based on the traditional space types. He aimed to stimulate the emotional communication and value resonant between tourists and local culture. Therefore, the town was designed with a slow traffic system open to the public. There was neither wall nor ticket within the Town. All functional areas were divided by the geomorphology, including a pit park, a wellness park, a routine for cycling, a valley garden, an academy for all ages and other cultural and entertainment facilities. With the residential community for the retirement and perfect life service supporting facilities, medical facilities and commercial space, the Town would form its layout for all-for-one tourism.

At the end of interview, the architecture gave us an emotional answer on what was a beautiful country in his mind? He said, as a designer, we transformed the beautiful image into real home. Some memories of my childhood reminded me the architectures and space then. They has become an integral part of good life.

For example, a corner where I played cricket fighting with friends, a place where I had meals with my grandpa and grandma, a small hill where I sit to see afar... In my opinion, a building should be used and have the atmosphere of living. The value of a building appeared when it had interaction with people. It was like a container to store good memories. If a person living in the house of my design and he become a decision-maker for development, he may tell his feeling of living in that house. The value of the building would be delivered and extended. That was my joyous as a designer.
