5th Session of Gaochun Graceland Great Life Master Held Warmly

On September 18th, 5th Session of Gaochun Graceland Great Life Master was held at Graceland Sharing Reading Room successfully.

Mr. Zhang Yueyong, one Graceland resident, a staff in the artillery regiment command of the 139th troop of the 47th Army of the Army Lanzhou Military Region during the Sino-Vietnamese War, shared his eventful years in Lao Mountain with neighbors.

More than 500 days and nights at Lao Mountain frontline has become his indelible memory. During the Session, he shared what he saw, heard and felt during the war unreservedly, bringing the audience into the immortal times.

He talked about the basic condition of Lao Mountain, his first war, unforgettable person and experience and difficult times during fighting. When he was asked “did you fear the rain of bullets”, he gave a thin smile and firmly responded “that is a question, but we didn’t think about it. On the battlefield, what the solider thought about was to protect comrade-in-arms and themselves and destroy the enemy at the most, completing the duty given by the nation.”

Without flowery language, his share was touching. Sincere patriotism, friendship among comrade-in-arms beyond death, mass work after transfer from the army to civilian work … everything was so vivid and brought out resonance.

At the end, Mr. Zhang Yueyong expected the young to be high spirited, improve skills and be brave and responsible. In the hard-won age of peace, young people should be live up to the duty of national revitalization, keep going and create more brilliant achievement.
