16th Session of Yada Academy Talks & Lectures Held Successfully

On the afternoon of September 14th, the 16th Session of Yada Academy Talks and Lectures was held at Yixing Yada Life Bookstore. Famous scholar Mr. Zong Weifang shared his latest works A Chronical of Jiang Zhinian’s Life. It was about the magnificant and eventful life of Mr. Jiang Zhiqi who was a long-overlooked political genius of the Northern Song Dynasty and his friendship with Mr. Su Dongpo.

Mr. Jiang Zhiqi was diligent and knowledgable, and made progress in study. As an official, he was versatile in both civil and military affairs, honest and capable. As a person, he was bold and trustworthy. He had a wide circle of friends. He was one of the most outstanding talents in the history of the Northern Song Dynasty for his magnificant and eventful career and abundant and colorful life.

Compared with the ups and downs of Mr. Su Dongpo’s life, Mr. Jiang Zhiqi had a smooth career path. In any kinds of situation, they often corrresponded with each other, exchanged poetry and maintained the friendship of gentlemen. Mr. Jiang Zhiqi recommended Mr. Su and acted as a land buyer on Mr. Su’s behalf. Now “Buy Yangxian’s Land” has become an idiom. Yangxian Xishan has been created an ideal residential destination besides Yao Yuanming’s Peach Land.

Mr. Su visited nearly whole  territory of the Northern Song Dynasty. He finally settled down in Yixing which truly became his second hometown.

In the Activity, Mr. Song Weifang answered about the influence of Mr. Su purchasing Yixing land to the local education. He also signed his books for readers.

The Activity was hosted by Mr. Yang Kui, the cofounder of Yada Academy. He summaried that, the genre of chronology helped us to know the history in a new path. From A Chronical of Mr. Jiang Zhiqi, we could not only see his whole life, but also found the whole times. We could see different life encounters and choices of Mr. Jiang Zhiqi and Mr. Su Dongpo.
