China Entered the Phase of Intense Aging

The National Office on Ageing released the latest population data on July 10th. At the end of 2011, the elderly population aged 60 and above has reached 1.8499 million. The elder support rate (the elderly number burdened by every 100 working-age population) of the elderly population aged 60 and above is 19.67% with the same period. This could be the equivalent of five young staff to raise one retired.
