Special Meeting on the Design Scheme for Wuzhen Medical Park Held in Beijing

The Special Meeting on the Design Scheme for Wuzhen Medical Park was held in Beijing on May 16th, 2012. With Chairman of YaDa International Mr. Jiang jianning hosting the meeting, representatives from all parties concerned were present at it, including the Partner (China) of GMP Mr. Wu Wei, the President of Ocean Construction International Corporation Mr. Wen Haicheng, the Vice General Manager of United Design Group (Shanghai) Mr. Gu Zhipeng, the President of Hangzhou Greentown Hospital Mr. Zheng Chang, Vice Presidents of YaDa International Mr. Zhou Jianping and Ms. Gao Xiang, and the General Manager of Leader Medical Park Management Advisory Ltd. Mr. Li Ruicheng. At the meeting, participants went deep into the design scheme for Wuzhen Medical Park.

The Design Director of GMP Mr. Johann von Mansberg first made a brief introduction on Wuzhen Medical Park’s modified design. According to the suggestions made at the previous meeting, the scheme had been revised in the following aspects: First, in consideration of the functional streamline and the architecture size, the check-up center and the outpatient clinic were set to the east part of the main building, their south-facing entrances directly connected with the Park’s main road, and facilitated the patients from the retirement community. Second, Medical Park set three entrances: main entrance in the south, and staff and logistics entrances in the east and north. The main building retained the original architectural style and by using wood and dyeing elements to create the atmosphere of water villages. The vehicles could be parked alongside the main road or two parking lots at the Park. Third, in despite of different sizes and appearances, two alternative designs for the VIP area both met the demands for centralized management and independent functional division. Fourth, the underground area was expanded so as to create sufficient space for the material supply and waste disposal. The rational distance between the underground and main entrance could avoid the interference. Fifth, several alternative designs of shading shutters were supplied to enhance comfort and keep the uniformity in overall architectural style by adopting wooden or metal materials.

The attendants talked actively on the design scheme and made valuable proposals. The President of Hangzhou Greentown Hospital Mr. Zheng Chang suggested that the hospital design should take the future management and operation into consideration and attach importance to fives streamlines (staff, materials, living, logistics and environmental protection) and three areas (medical rehabilitation area, living and entertainment area and administrative area). All standards need refer to the medical acceptance criteria of Zhejiang Province. Representatives from Ocean Construction proposed that the scheme should first meet the functional demand and then guarantee the realization of its featured architectural effect. In addition, it should make out the different maintenance costs of selected materials. Representatives from YaDa International hoped that the scheme would list the floor area per bed as investment reference. Moreover, the design was suggested to consider the building cost and be submitted by the end of May.

Mr. Jiang Jianning asked the designer to modify the scheme timely on the basis of all requirements being met. He hoped all parties concerned have a unified understanding of “high-end” and create leisure surroundings by reasonable planning. Mr. Jiang Jianning mentioned that the hospital’s service quality and philosophy are keys to success with the help of good hardware and surroundings. He requested the designers to notice the hospital’s future operation and take the input and output ratio into account. Finally, Mr. Jiang Jianning made three demands: to reallocate the main building’s functional space; to set all medical streamlines mentioned; and make proposal of main building materials timely.

Mr. Wu Wei took advices from all attending parties and thanked YaDa International for the trust on GMP’s team. They would further improve the design scheme for Wuzhen Medical Park to facilitate the project construction.
