Jiangsu Enters Deeply Aging Society Empty Nest Elderly More than Half

Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission recently held a press conference of Report on Elderly People's Information and Ageing Work Development 2018". According to statistics, as of the end of 2018, the number of elderly people aged 60 and over in Jiangsu was 1,805,700, accounting for 23.04%. Five work force should raise one elderly man. Jiangsu has entered a deeply aging society. Statistics also released the health and living conditions of the elderly for the first time. According to the sample survey, more than half of the elderly are empty nest, and more than 70% have chronic diseases.
