Yada Academy Launches Series Cultural Lectures&Talks Ge Fei Gives First Lecture of Jiangnan Culture

Yada Academy is a key cultural facility of Yixing Yada Yangxian Xishan Town. It advocates the cultural concept of virtue and liberality, the leading, abundant and time-honored Jiangnan Culture, as well as the life aesthetics. So far, the Culture & Art Center, Life Bookstore and several life classrooms have been completed and put into use.

Yixing locates at the heart area of southern China. Jiangnan Culture there is the core of Chinese Culture. With the aspiration of spreading Jiangnan Culture and gathering talented elites all over the world who devote themselves to carry forward Jiangnan Culture, Yada Academy launches a series cultural activity – Yada Academy Lectures & Talks. It embodies deep essence of culture in relaxed daily life talks rather than in big empty words.

The first activity was held at 14:30 p.m. on November 23rd at Yada Life Bookstore. Mr. Ge Fei, famous writer, professor and doctoral supervisor of Chinese Language and Literature Department at Tsinghua University as well as winner of Mao Dun Literature Awards, was invited to give a lecture on “Geographical Jiangnan and Cultural Jiangnan” at Yada Yangxian Xishan. Mr. Ge Fei, born in the south region of the Yangtze River, was well-known for his “Jiangnan Trilogy”. The great work on Jiangnan Culture has been honored as “the new century’s substantial Chinese original work which displays China’s inner spirit evolution in a hundred years”. It is a heaven-made match and also a far-reaching approach that Mr. Ge Fei gave the first lecture.

Mr. Ge Fei started his lecture from Jiangnan Culture. According to him, although Jiangnan Culture has notable features, it still keeps developing and enriches itself as the fusion of historical integration. He took Yada Yangxian Xishan as an example. It employs Jiangnan architectural style, but also integrates various elements. In the sense, Jiangnan Culture should be observed and studied within a larger coordinate system.

In the second part of the Speech, he explained poetic metaphor and the importance of some core images in novel creation by his full-length novel Jiangnan Trilogy that spent him 17 years to create and his latest long novel Moon Went Down A Desolate Temple. Mr. Ge Fei said frankly, he hopes readers could find themselves and see their own soul in his novels.

Mr. Ge Fei also shared his experience in reading and writing with readers, and answered several questions of readers present.

This activity was hosted by joint founder of Yada Academy and writer Mr. Yang Kui. More than 130 cultural figures including Chairman of Yixing Writers Association Mr. Xu Feng attended the activity.
