Tourism Market Picks Up During the May Day

During the May Day period, civil aviation industry ushered in a small peak of travel since the Ching Ming Festival. According to Transportation Department of Civil Aviation Administration, it is expected that 5.9 million passengers will be transported during the five-day holiday period, with an average of about 580,000 passengers per day. This is a 66.8% decrease from the same period in 2019, and an increase of 43.2% from the average daily passenger traffic of 2020 Ching Ming Holiday. During the holidays, the overall passenger load factor of civil aviation flights will be significantly lower than the normal level in previous years, and the average passenger load factor is expected to not exceed 70%.


In terms of railways, the search volume of train tickets departing from Beijing on April 28th has increased by 391.24% from 17:00 to 24:00 on April 29th. Shanghai, Tianjin, Xi'an, Taiyuan, and Zhengzhou became the five destinations with the highest search volume.
