Beijing Invests 100 Million to Support Aged-care Service Operation

Date:2020.05.18

Recently, Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau has announced that, in response to the impact of COVID-19, Beijing will spend 100 million yuan to support the operation of aged-care institutions.

Since the close-off management has been fully implemented on January 27th, there has been no case of COVID-19 infection among 48,000 elderly people at 682 aged-care institutions in Beijing. At the same time, affected by the epidemic, various aged-care service institutions have reduced their income by 15% to 20%, while their daily expenditure has increased by nearly 15%. In order to help the institutions to overcome difficulties and develop steadily, Beijing is going to raise subsidy standards and reduce rents.

In terms of raising operating subsidy standards for aged-care institutions, on the basis of existing operating subsidy standards, each institution will increase the amount of subsidies by 500 yuan per person per month according to the actual number of elderly people during the outbreak period. The actual number of elderly people shall be based on the Beijing registered elderly data collected by Beijing Social Welfare Comprehensive Management Platform. If the elderly stay for 15 days or more within a month, the operation subsidy shall be calculated and paid as one month standard; If less than 15 days, no operation subsidy will be paid. If the aged-care institution has ceased to operate, it will no longer be given subsidy.
