11th Yada Academy Lecture & Talk Successfully Held

On October 23rd 2021, the 11th Yada Academy Lecture & Talk with the theme of “When Travel Has Become Songs” was held at Yada Life Bookstore of Yada Yangxian Xishan. The singer Mr. Lao Lang shared his travel experience and music life with more than 200 audience.  

The lecture began with one song of Mr. Lao Lang “When Love Become Songs” and extended into his journeys and related life experience. He talked about the journey to the Antarctic Pole with scientific expedition team, the one-hundred-day travel through the Africa and his feelings about climbing the Everest and Four Girls Mountain.

During the journey to the Antarctic Pole, Mr. Lao Lang encountered the roughest channel on earth. When visiting the Antarctic research station with about one century history, he admired the constant exploration spirit of human being even with life danger. In his eyes, the landscape of the Antarctic Pole was magnificent for the icebergs were in all sorts of strange shapes beyond imagination.

In 2003, Mr. Lao Lang traveled through 13 African countries in 100 days with CCTV and Phoenix TV. According to him, the landscape of horizon line, common in Africa but rare in cities, was strikingly impressive.

As an enthusiast of mountaineering, Mr. Lao Lang shared his experience of climbing the Everest and Four Girls Mountain, including the risk and touching moments during the journey. In his opinion, the outdoor extreme sport could fully explore a man’s potency and fulfill what is hard to be completed in common daily life.

The charm of travel was interpreted by Mr. Lao Lang as no assumption about the destination in advance. Not like a traveler who rushed among scenic areas but to live like the local, he could be immersed into the present, which was joyful and sympathetic.

During the Lecture, Mr. Lao Lang recalled the journey with his childhood friends for shooting a documentary named “The Three String – Exploring Osamu Dazai”. At the same time, the song “To Childhood Friends” jointly sung by Mr. Lao Lang and Mr. Xiao Ke was played, bringing the audience back to the memory of their youth.

When talking about his feelings on music, Mr. Lao Lang shared the on-the-site improvisation with Rainbow Chamber Singers. He said, in the music world, the on-the-site performance, with portion of luck, was the liveliest. The band performance could create special atmosphere, fully expressing the thoughts and emotions at that time.

During the interaction, the audience had an exchange with Mr. Lao Lang on topics such as the current reality show and the development of pop music. The event was ended with the song of Mr. Lao Lang “Who Doesn’t Have Dreams When Young”. The Host Mr. Yang Kui quoted one lyric of the song “Although hundreds of opportunities in life, only the intimate deserve you cherish for long. May you live long like the running water.” to wish all have a journey with songs, cherished memories and good experience.  

Yada Academy Lecture & Talk is one of the series cultural events organized by Yada Academy. The first Lecture & Talk was held on November 23rd 2019. So far, it has invited Mr. Ge Fei, Mr. Qiu Xiaohua, Mr. Ye Zhaoyan, Mr. Zhu Xuedong, Mr. Zhang Jianhua, Ms. Huang Xiaodan, Mr. Zhang Lixian, Ms. Yu Dan, Mr. Mai Jia, Mr. Yang Minyi, Mr. Bai Yansheng, Ms. Wu Na and Mr. Lao Lang to give 11 themed sessions and 4 special lectures. The themes of Lecture & Talk are wide, covering Jiangnan culture, life aesthetics, Chinese economy, music appreciation and other aspects. The Lecture & Talk makes the core of spiritual and cultural events at Yada Yangxian Xishan more solid, widens the cultural sight of the residents and forms its unique brand value with wide recognition. In April 2020, Yada Academy Lecture & Talk was honored Yixing Excellent Reading Project (Brand) Award. In December of the same year, it was listed in Yixing Public Reading Promotion Demonstration Projects. It has grown into the cultural high land at not just YadaYangxian Xishan, but Yixing City.
