“One-generation Household” Proportion Nearly 50%

According to the latest China Statistical Yearbook, the proportion of one-generation household in 2020 is 15.33% higher than that of 10 years ago, up to 49.5%. One-generation household means the household only lives the same generation or a single man. According to China Population and Employment Statistical Yearbook, in 2020, the sixth census data shows, the proportion of two-generation household (the most typical structure is one couple with their children) reached up to 47.83%. In 2020, the proportion of two-generation household shrank to 36.72%. The situation is different in different provinces. But the increase of one-generation household is in common. The proportion is no less than 40% in any province.
