Yangxian Xishan Community Life Surging Forward

On the afternoon of June 19th, Choir Film Club held the Base Opening Ceremony at Golden-Era Cinema of Town Center at Yangxian Xishan. According to the Club President Mr. Liu Xue Zhong, the Base aimed to offer a communication and interaction venue for film enthusiasts at Xishan and enrich their spare time.

After the Opening Ceremony, all participants watched a classic Oscar film Roman Holiday played by an old film projector and shared their watching experience. The 70 years’ old film brought back many people’s memory. Some told their stories during the trip in Roman. Some shared their experience that they watched film for the first time at the youth. Some explained the film from the shooting background, story line, and music scene. And some suggested that Dong Da Research and Study Club organize a Roman tour to visit the venues in the film after the epidemic.

Since the founding, Choir Film Club projected several old films at the Town and communities, being well received. Today, it has been a new lifestyle for the Town residents to watch the film. As Mr. Liu posted in his Wechat Moments, I began to collect film copies over twenty years ago without rhyme or reason. Those were seen for many times. Great thanks to Yangxian Xishan family for wakening up these old films. Better all alone than all. Films have been out in the fast food lifestyle today. But it was still a good choice to slow down your life and review the past and the classic forever.

The Film Club is only one part of Yangxian Xishan community life. In the beautiful landscape, the life becomes better in slow pace.

On the afternoon of June 18th, BMB Music Salon and Classic Music Appreciation activity was held at the Landscape Hall beside Yangxian Lake. All participants listened Goldberg Variations by Bach carefully. For this activity, Music Salon President Mr. Chi Shaoping moved his professional stereo equipment and disk collection from his home specially.

As one of Music Salon promoters, Mr. Ge Fei, the winner of Mao Dun Literary Prize and the writer, shared how he fell in love with classic music and introduced Bach’s artistic life and music style.

In nearly an hour activity, all participants were immersive in ups and downs of rhythm and enjoyed the summer afternoon time. After the activity, some shared that it was wonderful to quietly enjoy classic music in a relatively private and independent environment for the first time. The relaxed and comfortable life was the same as what Mr. Zhou Zuoren said a half day idleness worthy ten years’ dream.  

Besides poetic life, community life at Yada Town is also warm and happy.

On Father’s Day, Cloud Community residents organized the One-hundred Families Party on their own. Neighbors gathered at the central hall with dishes, including lobsters, pork ribs, roast chicken, roasted goose, household slightly fries, fruits and beverage. They shared the delicacies together and toasted for best life.

After the event, the initiator Mr. Tang posted a passage that collected many residents’ message.

“It brought happiness and joy for us and our old friends.”

“This is a kind of team spirit and a kind of spirit of devotion that only appear in harmonious family.”

“We love each other in the warm family.”

“We are so happy in the warm big family. All dishes are yummy!”

“It is hard to image we are like a big but harmonious family. It is like community in the 60s and 70s. I found the long-lost feeling at Yangxian Xishan.”

“Hello everyone! Fresh waxberry are just collected and put in the Service Center. One box for one family. Although the gift is not expensive, yet it expresses our wishes.”

“The gathering is so warm, harmonious and friendly. All families devote. We are like a big family.”

One word – family – appeared in each message. Residents from different regions of China lived in different cities before. Now they had the same family – Yangxian Xishan.

The Weekend Fair at Town Center is one of main gathering venue for residents. Chi Pan Café managed by club presidents has become a beautiful landscape beside E Xi Bridge. In the evening, you could enjoy a cup of hand drip with the glowing setting sun shine. The life at Xishan seems more tasteful.

When the night falls, neighbors from Lakeside Singing Enthusiast Gathering sing classic old songs at Starlight Plaza and danced with rhythm. Under the starlight, they shared good memory and happy gathering.

At Yangxian Xishan, Yada Academy is another place which residents love to stay. Here, there are annual theme activities and many interest classes, such as calligraphy & painting, ceramics, zheng, qin, pipa, vocal music, dance, tea art, bakery, photography, yoga and static ballet. These courses bring joy and happiness to the retired. They said, interest at the youth was developed after retirement here. Some others said, they had the feeling of back-to-campus. They felt younger than before.

Faster and faster the life pace becomes, more and more unexpected uncertainties we face with. We are thinking about what kind of life is worthy of pursuing. How to spent the late life after hard working life？

The answer may be found in the community life of Yangxian Xishan.
