Special Shaoxing Opera Performance in the Rain at Yada Town

On the evening of September 3rd, a special Shaoxing opera performance was held at Town Center of Yada Yangxian Xishan. Performers from Yixing Wuxi Opera Research Society and Happy Drama Club made a grand Shaoxing opera performance with beautiful songs and rich feelings for the Town residents and tourists in misty autumn rain at Romance Pavilion with antique flavor. Nearly one hundred opera enthusiasts watched the performance in the rain.

The Performance began with the well-known 18 Phases Ending of The Butterfly Lovers. Melodious music for voice and vivid performance showed the sad and sentimental love between Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai. Yixing is the hometown of Liang and Zhu. Their story was listed as the national intangible cultural heritage. The audience said, it was more attractive to enjoy the song.

Later, performers performed several well-known operas. Performers in costumes walked slowly and sang melodiously, which attracted the audience deeply and brought out bursts of applause.

The Performance ended with Dream of the Rea Chamber. All performers sang the aria together in Romance Pavilion, that pushed the atmosphere to a new high. The audience were immersive in the performance.

The performance in the rain is also a public welfare performance. It was planned by one resident of the Town Mr. Zong Weigang and greatly supported by Jiangsu Guoxin Union Energy Company. For a successful performance in the special weather, all performers began preparation quite early. Sound engineers worked at the sound console from the beginning to the end for good running of sound device. Real Estate Company and Commerce Company of the Park set up rain-proof shed for audience. Warm audience arrived at the site early.

Yangxian Xishan advocates diversified lifestyle. It has attracted outstanding people at different fields to move in. Among the audience, many are residents of the Town, including the national class-A actor Ms. Dong Yunhua with the reputation of Princess of Wuxi Opera and host of Beijing TV Mr. Kong Jie with the honor of the Person of China Opera 2021. They fully affirmed the professional dedication of performers who performed in the rainy day and spoke highly of rich spiritual and cultural life offered by the Park. They said they were willing to contribute to the construction of the Park’s spiritual and cultural life by their expertise.

As the Mid-autumn Day is approaching, the 3rd Yangxain Xishan Golden Autumn Day Lantern Festival will open. Wonderful color lanterns, performance and fairs will offer you a poetic and romantic Mid-autumn Day Festival.
