Second Wuzhen Graceland Labor Day Life Festival Joyously Held

During the Labor Day Holiday, while Graceland residents returned to Wuzhen for a relaxed vacation, the Second Wuzhen Graceland Labor Day Life Festival was held joyously. The Festival lasts three days from May 1st to 3rd. It offers Graceland residents a wonderful holiday life through varied kinds of activities, such as fun experience classes, retro games, fun activities, club activities, residents’ workshop and farm picnic.

On May 1st, students of outdoor yoga class were practicing breathing and postures on the grass by Baima Lake. With warm sunshine and gentle breeze, they had a cozy time of healthy lifestyle. In the afternoon, the handmade tie-dye class was held outside of Art Center. Participants created their own tie-dyed handicrafts according to their imagination. By tying and binding, colors were dyeing on the cloth for unknown patterns that triggered curiosity and expectation.

On the morning of May 2nd, floriculture class became the home field of ingenious people. Colorful flowers were turned into creative works to decorate beautiful life. In the afternoon, baking class was filled with fun. Rich jam, crispy biscuit and sweet afternoon tea made both a comfortable & cozy time and a rare parent-children interaction time. Along Yada Commercial Street, varied kinds of retro games, such as snack display, hopscotch, rolling hoop and jumping sandbags, attracted crowds of people to play. In the night, the “Life Festival Happy Night” show brought the Festival to its climax.

On May 3rd, in the Static Teaching Building, residents who like rustic ceramic craft were making their works under the guidance of teacher. Machines purred. Turntables twirled. Clays were formed into different shapes under the pressure of hands. Pieces of unique potteries were present after fired.

During the Festival, there were three films to be showed every day in Graceland Hall, covering themes like real life, reminiscence, sci-fi and parent-children, which were suitable for family members at different age groups. Smoke curled upward from Graceland farm where Graceland residents were cooking picnic. While enjoyed delicious country style food, they felt the fresh nature.

Gifted scholars and beautiful ladies from Graceland clubs also displayed their skills during Festival. You can find them by Baima Lake and in the water-street pavilions. They organized varied kinds of activities, such as morning Tai Ji exercise, Peking Opera show, Shaoxing Opera show, ballroom dance and fit aerobics, showing versatility of Graceland residents.

Residents’ Workshop, as the new member of Life Festival, yielded unusually brilliant results. The small group voluntarily organized and joined in by Graceland residents gave full play to their own strong points, such as crocheting and sewing, to produce handicrafts that were widely praised by neighborhood.

Wuzhen Graceland Labor Day Life Festival is a place to show Graceland residents’ passion to life and love to the community. Abundant community activities enhance the relationship among neighbors and manifested the cultural connotation of Graceland.
