4th Session of Xishan Leading Reader Program Held Warmly

On the afternoon of August 12th, 4th Session of Xishan Leading Reader Program was held at Yada Life Bookstore of Yada Yangxian Xishan. The Event was jointly organized by jointly by Yada Academy, HR & Admin Department and F&B Service Department. It invited Mr. Duan Shunqi, the Chinese Cooking Master, a senior technician and the executive chef of Yada Yangxian Xishan, to share his understanding on the book The People’s Diet of Mr. Zhu Xuedong with the theme of Flavor of Home Cooking at Yangxian Xishan.



The People’s Diet was regarded as a food map, the countryside recipe and a private menu of Mr. Zhu Xuedong, an expert of roadside food. The book recorded Mr. Zhu’s impression on the cuisines all over the country and the featured food at his hometown Wujin. Many home-made cuisines in the book were also commonly seen in Yixing. Since Mr. Zhu’s lecture at Yada Academy in this July, this book has been the favorite one for readers, especially for catering industrial staff.



During the Event, Mr. Duan started his sharing from the passage Globefish: Delicacy for the Rich Appeared on Ordinary Family’s Dining-table. He shared his feelings and experience on cooking globefish, and introduced the lake food and local food unique in Jiangnan area. In his opinion, after hundreds of years’ development and precipitation, the food culture had owned abundant humanistic connotation. A home-made dish displayed the season and the folk custom, and also the originality and technique of the cook. Only continuous experience accumulation and long-term repeated practice could cook delicacies. That was also the concept pursued by the Town Canteen of Yangxian Xishan. Each dish with attention, love and sincere contained the flavor of home cooking at the Town.



Staff from F&B Department led to read sections in Shrimp in Soy, Meat Dumpling with Shredded Turnip, Dry Fried Meet with Cowpea, Zhu’s Vermicelli with Spicy Minced Pork, How to Cook Noodle with Lard Oil, Garlic Sprouts and Soup, The Youpo Noodle of Jiangnan in Summer, Lie of Specialty and etc. They also talked about their feelings on cooking and understanding on home-made dishes. All of them agreed to cook with sincere and attention and offer good service to every one of the Town.


F&B Department suggested to recruit Food Recommendation Officers of the Town who would be selected without the limitation on gender, age range from the Town’s residents, merchants and staff. They would try dishes of the Town Canteen and all own restaurants regularly, by wide exchanges, promoting the sustainable development of catering services at the Town and offer more featured dishes and home cooking.



During the interaction, all participants talked freely about The People’s Diet and told their opinion on home cooking based on their own experience. Mr. Yang Kui, Co-founder of Yada Academy and the writer, said the real home cooking was a common dish cooked in a common day for common people. He also talked about the persistence during cooking from the aspect of self-cultivation. Dean of Yada Academy Ms. Luo Xuhua shared her understanding from four aspects, enjoyment, attention, feelings and persistence. She expected all people to pay attention on their own job, and insist the career spirit to improve the life at Yangxian Xishan while enjoying the life.



Deputy General Manager of Yangxian Xishan Mr. Miao Jiliang hoped all staff with the original intention to keep optimizing service, improving skills and further enhancing details of service to realize a healthy upgrading of the Town. During he led to read the book, General Manager Mr. Liu Naifa said, The People’s Diet displayed the authentic life. With such philosophy, Yada Yangxian Xishan had been created into a life town full of passion for life. In virtue of everyone’s attentive and elaborate service, it offered warmth, excellent products and love to the residents, that was the home flavor of the Town.


Food is the first necessity of the people. This Event with the theme of food carried on the Jiangnan Culture and Life Aesthetics advocated by Yada Academy. Meanwhile, it integrated reading into the daily life of the residents, interpreting the good life at the Town by words and materializing the cultural spirit of the Town by feelings of these leading readers.
