Shanghai Proposes to Add 19,000 Aged-care Beds

Recently, General Office of Shanghai Municipal People's Government issued a notice on "Shanghai Implementation Plan for Promoting High-Quality Development of Aged-care & Nursery Services". The plan pointes out that by 2025, the number of aged-care beds in Shanghai should increase from 159,000 to 178,000, of which no less than 60% are nursing beds. The community aged-care service facilities in each district should not be lower than 40 square meters per 1,000 permanent residents. Districts possessing the proper conditions should strive to reach 50 square meters per thousand permanent residents.
