Dongpo Pavilion of Yada Yangxian Xishan Honored 49th IES Illumination Award 2022

Recently, Dongpo Pavilion of Yada Yangxian Xishan was honored the 49th IES Illumination Award 2022 by Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. The Award is one of three most authoritative illumination awards in the world, representing the highest design level in the field of illumination that year. The other two awards are the Lighting Design Awards presented by British Lighting Journal and IALD Illumination Award presented by International Association of Lighting Designers. Among the three, IES Illumination Award starting in 1973 has the longest history.

Dongpo Pavilion is one of the landmark buildings at Yada Yangxian Xishan. Leaning along the mountains and following the twists and turns of the terrain, Dongpo Pavilion has been perfectly integrated into natural landscape of Yangxian. The overall lighting design changes with the slope of mountains and architectures, integrating into the whole lighting system of the Town.

The illumination of the whole architectural complex uses stagger light and shadow, generating the spiritual empathy of tourists with the culture of ancient architecture and natural landscape. Via creating a simple but elegant, calm and unsophisticated lighting atmosphere, travelers could experience the same mood and feelings with the ancient people, returning to nature physically and mentally.

One of key features of Dongpo Pavilion lighting is to show the architectural details. Illumination along the cornice adds dynamic beauty to the architectural structure. In addition, travelers could enjoy the wonderful and excelling technique details of architectures in a comfortable luminous environment.

The lighting system of Dongpo Pavilion conforms to China Green Building Standard. It enables multiple functions, including regionalized switch light, self-checking, clock control, energy metering and etc., meeting green building energy saving requirements.

Dongpo Pavilion is one key public benefit project at Yangxian Xishan, constructed under Yada’s principle of Public Welfare First. Master of domestic ancient architecture Mr. Zhu Guangya conducted the design. On August 10th 2020, Dongpo Pavilion was officially opened. Since then, several large-scale cultural activities have been held there. While climbing Dongpo Pavilion, tourists could enjoy the wonderful landscape of Yangxian, as well as feel the spiritual world and personality charm of Mr. Su Dongpo. They could also appreciate rich cultural history and profound cultural heritage of Yixing, making great contribution to the integrated development of local ecology, culture and tourism.
